This page — and others that build from it — will take us visually through Ephraim Epstein’s cross-continental life. He left Belarus in 1849, crossed on a ‘perilous journey by land and sea’ to arrive in New York in 1850… crossed back to Thessalonika in 1860… sailed the Adriatic in the Austrian Navy… lived in Vienna… returned to the American wild west in 1867… found romance, marriage and then tragedy in Ohio… preached in the prairies of Dakota… country-doctored in West Virginia… and found peace at last in Chicago. This is the start…
I found the book unputdownable and already three people have read my copy leading me to buy another. It is beautifully written with no annoying syntax amazingly well researched and a great joy.to read.
